I'm sure all of you watched the world cup final.
Regrettably Italy won.
Not that I'm a fan of the French,
just that I dislike the Italian team. A lot.
I hate their defensive play. Makes the game terribly boring.
I hate their diving and acting.
Sure a lot of players from other teams dive, but the Italians are the worst lot.
Just look at how Australia lost.
Fucking cheaters.
Then there's Zidane's headbutt.
It's really disappointing at first to see a legendary football god attacking someone on the field like that and resulting in a red card.
Especially when it's his last (international?) game in his football career.
But then it's pretty clear that Materazzi verbally abused Zidane badly.
Now it's not an excuse for Zidane to headbutt someone, but it's damn understandable.
Especially when his mother was sent to the hospital before that match (www.thesun.co.uk).
I read many articles regarding the incident.
Maybe you've read it, if so good for you.
Anyway it's believed that Materazzi said something racist to Zidane.
So Materazzi claimed “It is absolutely not true. I did not call him a terrorist. I’m ignorant. I don’t even know what the word means. The whole world saw what happened on live TV.”
He then claim that he didn't insult Zidane's mother, and that he thinks all mothers are sacred.
Materazzi doesn't know what "terrorist" means? What the fuck.
Then his dad came out and said that oh his son is the real victim.
"Marco had told me he had been provoked. It's as though they have something against him each time. In the past two years, Marco has only been on the receiving end and the injuries he has sustained are proof of this."
Everyone knows that Materazzi is an aggressive defender.
There's even a clip on youtube that shows that.
Then a lip reading expert was able to look at what Materazzi said.
Here the lip reader's translated version:
Materazzi: [a high ball or Zidane's jersey] is not for a nigger like you
Zidane walked away.
M: We all know you're a son of a terrorist whore,
M: so fuck off.
Z turned and headbutted M in the chest.
There's another version of it by a source close to the Italian squad:
Materazzi nipple-twisted Zidane (a lot of people claimed to witness it by the way).
Materaazi: What, don't you like it?
Zidane: A little too hard for my liking.
M: Well, I did it that way because I know that’s how your mother likes it.
*headbutt*
After that, Materazzi admitted to the media that yes, he has indeed insulted Zidane, but only after Zidane insulted him.
And nothing personal or racial was being said.
Personally I don't think that would make Zidane so pissed off.
And THEN after that, Materazzi appeared in the media again, and told his version of the story:
Materazzi grabbed the Zidane's shirt.
Zidane: If you want my shirt so much, then you can fucking have it after the game.
Materazzi: I'd rather have the shirt off your woman.
*headbutt*
So now, after 3 days, after talking to the media 2 or more times, Materazzi comes up with a new story that he did insult Zidane, but only his wife and not his race or mother.
Sure took him and his peers a while to formulate this one up.
I see it as a weak attempt to make his insults sound offensive enough for Zidane's headbutt, but not enough to have any responsibility held against himself.
Maybe it's common for players to insult one another in order to piss the opponent off.
In that case Materazzi did a great job in giving Zidane that red card.
But that's also a fucked up way to play a sport eh.
Materazzi probably deserved that attack.
I hope FIFA look deeply into this.
